Kickstarter: The Exile and Happy Landing of Natalie Rios

tobitastic:

Remember all those comics I had been reblogging by Christianne Benedict and Rachel K. Zall? Over several months I shared with you my anticipation and excitement of each page being released. Well now they are on their way toward creating a print version - and you can get your…

Oops, I suppose I did forget the link to the kickstarter.  It’s here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1076215508/exiles-trans-stories-by-christianne-benedict

Like Tobi said, we’ve hit our initial goal on the Kickstarter, and we’re working toward a $3k stretch goal that will allow us to add an all-new 8-page trans erotica story by Christi that I am informed includes vampires and werewolves. Can you say no to that? Of course you can’t!

We’re 2/3rds of the way there, and we still have a month to go! Please do donate and reblog! You know you can’t say no to trans vampire erotica.

And thanks everyone for all your support! Christi and I have been overwhelmed by how well this project has been received! Y’all are amazing and you should feel good about that.

Exiles: Trans Stories by Christianne Benedict & Rachel K. Zall

KICKSTARTER IS GO!

You know you want a beautiful paper copy of The Exile to hold in your hands, and also to support the publication of trans-positive erotica in a form that looks classy and also to read the short solo comics that Christianne will be including, AND also to get your hands on some of the spiffy incentives, and help two struggling trans women make it through the winter.

(One of which is totally an original artboard from the comic! I have a gorgeous watercolor of Natalie & Alyx that Christi did hanging on my bedroom wall, and I can assure you her art will look amazing on your wall.)

The Kickstarter’s only been live for a few days and we’re already at $1199 of our modest $1700 goal — given that very little of our goal actually provides for paying us for the year and a half of work that went into the comic, it would be so amazing if we dramatically overshot that goal!

If you can donate, reblog, or send kind thoughts our way, thank you from the bottom of our sinister little hearts! <3

Oh, OK, it’s not just a Christianne Benedict appreciation blog. I also post selfies sometimes too. I haven’t been on Tumblr much because it’s too hot to live here in PA and I’m spending all my time underwater. I’m practicing to be a Nixie.

For those of you titillated by trans women in bikinis (hi 136 new male followers!), I might point you to the sexy comic I wrote here which has lots of naked trans women and a trans man and even some plot! Plus lovely art by Christianne Benedict.

(See? I can always bring it back around to Christi. You’d think we were dating or something, but sadly, we’ve never even had the pleasure of meeting in person.)

a comic done by christianne benedict, posted on the womanthology art forum. brilliant!

YES. Jesus, thank you.

I cannot tell you how many times I have had to point out what the audience at conventions actually LOOKS like to people in the industry. They can do signings in a booth full of every kind of person all day long, every color, every size, every orientation and more, and STILL go online and talk about how only white straight males read comics.

IT IS PROFOUNDLY UNTRUE AND INSULTINGLY IGNORANT.

"The Women Men Don’t See" — James Tiptree, Jr. (AKA Rebecca Sheldon — thanks, buggeryisthegenus)

And really — the *everyone* men don’t see, when you get right down to it. They don’t see us, they’re convinced we don’t spend money — not on the merch they want to make, anyway — and, if we make so much noise that they have to acknowledge us anyway?

Well, we’re not “real” fans.

*rolls eyes so hard they get stuck*

12,331 notes because my talented collaborator is a rockstar.

Yes, the only reason I use Tumblr these days is as a Christianne Benedict fan blog. It’s a noble purpose and I’ve no shame about it.

The Exile of Natalie Rios page 15 by Rachel K. Zall and Christianne Benedict.

The Exile is finally done, just in time for me to set up a webcomics tumblr. Brush and ink on bristol board.

THE END!

Oh golly, what a ride! I can’t believe the Exile is entirely finished. Now go click through to read the whole comic and keep your eyes peeled for the Kickstarter so we can make paper copies (and also make money because we are poor trans women and we’ve worked really hard on this and damn we need money)

Thank you everyone who’s followed along all this time, thank you for your likes, your reblogs, your attention, your titillation, your compliments and just plain your you. We love you! <3

This page has been done for a bit. I’ve been holding onto it like an idiot on the assumption that I can get better value out of it depending on when I post it thanks to the way that Patreon works. I’m an idiot, because it doesn’t freaking matter. If I posted this when it was done, it would have kicked one of my other art posts into this slot. So Katie can get a check from me and all will be ducky. There’s one-ish page left of this story and I should have it done in a day or two (she said confidently…). As usual, you can read the entire thing at once here.

The Exile & Happy Landing of Natalie Ríos, PAGE 14! We are almost done! But first, have an orgy, because we all know you’re just reading this for the sex scenes. (It’s ok, so am I)

Also! There’s going to be a Kickstarter soon so we can do printed copies of the final version of this (plus a few more naughty goodies) suitable for furtively smuggling into the bathroom with you. Keep your eyes peeled!

[Photoset of Sailor Moon winking. Texts read: Made a phone call, Ordered the food you really wanted,  Asked a question in class, Cooked yourself a good meal, Got out of bed today, Calmed yourself down from a panic attack, Didn’t overwork yourself, Practiced self-care.]

Sometimes we get so focused on the big things that it’s easy to forget our small accomplishments, so I made the Sailor Moon Award! Celebrate the little accomplishments you make throughout the day, you deserve it!

Feel free to print these out and use them if you want, or make your own!

Here’s the next page of “The Exile of Natalie Rios”. Mostly brush and ink on Bristol board. I don’t think I used pens for much of this. I should be finishing this project up pretty soon. I hope. This is another relatively safe-for-work page. This is getting to be a habit. This page is considerably different from what Katie wrote for me. It’s one of the pages I re-wrote in order to draw it more easily. As always, the master post for this story is here if you need to catch up.

I’m trying out Patreon as a means of funding my blogs. They don’t have a widget yet, so this link will just have to do. If you like my writing and art and if you’d like to support Krell Laboratories and Christianne’s Art and Comics, please come on over and pledge. Thanks. Dear me, two pages in a row with no sex! I don’t have the script in front of me, but I’m going to pretend I didn’t script it that way and blame Christi. ;)

Doesn’t everyone look fantastic in their 40’s? Alyx has aged terribly well I think, and Wayne has turned out adorably dapper in a radically different way than I imagined him.

Almost certainly lots of hot sex on the next page, I think. Promises, promises!

Songs For A Lost Cosmopolitan

Because I love you, I made you a mix CD. Yay!

SONGS FOR A LOST COSMOPOLITAN

OK, I mostly made it because I really like making mixes. Given my weird, scattered taste in music, it’s kind of fascinating seeing what comes next in sequence when I put a mix together. Plus, I really do love sharing good music.

In case you’re curious, here’s what’s inside:

  1. Etsuko Yakushimaru - Boys Come Back To Me
  2. Marlena Shaw - California Soul
  3. Ruth Brown - Hello Little Boy
  4. Björk - Oceania (Radio Mix feat. Kelis)
  5. Artie Shaw - Summertime
  6. The Paris Sisters - Lonely Girl
  7. Natacha Atlas - Bahlam
  8. Evelyn Glennie - Battle Cry
  9. Coaltar Of The Deepers - Wipeout (retake)
  10. THEESatisfaction - Queen County (4 Women) (feat. Gift Uh Gab & JusMoni)
  11. Smoke City - Devil Mood
  12. Jane Siberry - All The Candles in The World
  13. Toni Fisher - The Big Hurt
  14. Lush - Lovelife
  15. Maple Rabbit - Standing In Doorways
  16. The Walker Brothers - Nite Flights
  17. Kate Bush - The Big Sky (Meteorological Mix)
  18. Max Richter - Last Days
  19. David Bowie - Heat

The Exile & Happy Landing Of Natalie Ríos, Page 12 is go!

And uncharacteristically worksafe as the final act begins! (Don’t worry, that won’t be a trend.)

You should really click through to see the full-size version and take in the breahtaking linework on that first panel there!

Also, I really want Dayanara’s entire outfit. I know I co-created her, but Dayanara has become sort of a style icon for me throughout this project.

Christianne significantly reworked this scene from my script so that it would actually look nice on the page, because she is the world’s most patient collaborator and will tolerate tidying up the work of an amateur.

So excited to see this comic approach completion! As ever, you can read the previous pages at http://is.gd/ExileNR

Self-reblog for morning people because that hat is too fantastic to miss!
